In 2016 after 3 years of Renovating San Jacinto Plaza was opened to the public. After the Renovations you can find “Los Logartos” at the center of the plaza. You can find a Splash Pad, Ping Pong Tables, Chess Tables, La Placita Cafe, Horseshoe Court.
Across Mills St. you can find the newly remodeled bathrooms, in the old McDonald’s building.
The Plaza Theatre opened September 12, 1930 for movies and stage shows. The Spanish Colonial decor entertained the El Paso community for decades. The El Paso Community Foundation raised the money to for the renovation and restoration of the theatre. The 2022 El Paso Community Foundation Classic Film Festival had several guests this year including Rita Moreno and F. Murray Abraham.
Socorro Mission Ysleta Mission
The Socorro Mission is located at 328 S. Nevarez Rd. south of El Paso on I-10 at Moon Rd. and FM 258. The structure embodies a distinct architectural style, it represents the history of this mission. It was relocated from New Mexico and rebuilt.
The Ysleta Mission, founded in 1682, was built by the Tigua Indians and is located west of Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo within the municipality of El Paso, Texas. The Ysleta Mission is the oldest operated parish in the State of Texas.
